Yoga and Workforce Wellbeing
Workplace wellbeing initiatives increasingly recognise mental and physical health as interconnected and essential to organisational performance. Evidence shows that workplace yoga programmes — when offered consistently over weeks — can reduce perceived stress significantly, improve psychological wellbeing and contribute to enhanced quality of life for employees. Meta‑analyses of workplace yoga interventions show moderate effect sizes for stress reduction compared with no‑treatment controls, supporting yoga’s role in corporate health strategies.
Additionally, workplace yoga has been associated with lower absenteeism due to musculoskeletal issues and improved overall health‑related quality of life among staff, indicating benefits for both individual wellbeing and organisational outcomes. These findings make yoga a viable complement to other workplace health programmes, occupational health services and NHS staff wellbeing offers.
