Social Impact

We adopt a preventative approach combining yoga with nutrition and lifestyle recommendations to support individuals and optimise their health. We aim to tackle inequalities in health across marginalised and low socioeconomic communities, by empowering individuals in accessing better nutrition on a low budget and improving their physical activity long-term.

NHS  & COmmunity-based courses

We are currently in the process of developing and delivering several programmes working directly within the community, as well as through GP referrals.

  • Social Prescribing Initiative - This is a 10-week course delivered in conjucntion with the NHS. This project will support patients with chronic health conditions such as hypertension, prediabetes, osteoarthritis, stress, depression and anxiety through an integrated nutrition and yoga approach. The yoga element utilises a standardised evidence-based protocol by Yoga4health aiming at improving confidence and increasing physical activity levels. More information about the evidence from this protocol is available in 'Research and Evidence'. Nutritional education includes guiding individuals through condition-specific nutrition and lifestyle advice, as well as meal planning on a budget. The aim of the course is to empower individuals in being able to troubleshoot ways to optimise their health long-term.

  • Healthy lower back course - We have a 12-week lower back pain course we are offering to address the root causes of common lower back conditions, as well as pain. There is a standardised evidence-based yoga for healthy lower backs protocol used. More information is available in 'Research and Evidence'. The aim of this course is to improve pain and mobility through yoga and to increase understanding of the links between nutrition and root causes of back pain and joint problems, such as inflammation.

  • Exercise referral course -  This is a 3 course offering again incorporating an evidence-based yoga protocol. The first course aims to provide a preventative approach to common health conditions such as prediabetes, allowing individuals in ‘at-risk’ groups to learn and adopt methods that optimise health before conditions, such as diabetes, may develop. The second course will be available to cohorts already suffering from common chronic conditions such as those in the social prescribing course, whereby exercise will be incorporated into the sessions, for example outdoor walks and cooking in natural open spaces. The final course will consist of more advanced, yoga, exercise and nutrition/lifestyle options to further empower individuals in maintaining lifelong habitual change.

  • We are hoping to run an 8-week course in Spring 2026 to support people with diabetes and cardiovascular conditions within the Tameside community.

We are able to provide community-based courses and support for individuals in any of the areas found on ‘Our Specialities’ page.
