Dr Ambar

My Background
I have been a qualified doctor for over 14 years and 6 years experience as a qualified General Practitioner. As a GP, I gained experience working in deprived areas and was inundated with requests for nutritional and naturopathic support, but unable to adopt this approach within the conventional GP consultation. As a result, I decided to take a deeper dive into nutrition and achieved a Master’s degree (MSc) in Nutrition Science and Practice. My degree was taught from a functional medicine perspective and as a result of this I favour a holistic approach to health, trying to delve deeper into understanding and ascertaining the root cause of an individual’s current signs and symptoms. I believe in this approach so much that I made the bold decision to come off the GP register and stop practicing clinical medicine in 2024, but remain as a GMC-registered doctor.

I am currently a member of the General Medical Council (GMC), British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
Currently manager and director of Lotus in Bloom Wellbeing CIC.
I am a big believer in supporting the mind as well as the body in order to optimise health and vitality. I have been trained in communicating using both motivational interviewing techniques and neurolinguistic programming to promote change behaviour and help individuals achieve long-lasting sustainable lifestyle and habit changes.
